April 16 ,1935 inSurahammar ,Sweden ) was anice hockey defenceman and right winger. He played 252 international games for Sweden between 1955 and 1967, including 13IIHF World Championships and threeWinter Olympics .Pettersson played for
Surahammar IF ,Södertälje SK , and Västra Frölunda IF, between 1951 and 1968. He won the Swedish championship with Södertälje in 1956 and Västra Frölunda in 1965. He was named the top Swedish player of the year in 1959-60. After he retired, he coached for many years, including the Swedish junior team from 1968 to 1974 (coaching them to the world title in 1972 and 1974), the Swedish national team from 1974 to 1976, and the Norwegian national team from 1978 to 1981.Petterson was inducted into the
IIHF Hall of Fame in 2004 as a builder.World Championships
