Betty Limpany was one of the last women in
Devon to beexecuted during the18th Century . She was accused ofarson by burning down her Master's house. Her trial was swift and she was hanged on the5th April 1799 . She was only 17 years old.In
1997 Diamond 7 Television inLeicester screened a film based on the famous case. It was filmed on location inBelgrave Hall ,Leicester , and KentisbereDevon , and produced byWide Angle Productions .Trivia
* It is rumoured that Betty Limpany was pregnant with her Master's baby when she was hung. Although this has never been proved.
