Stan Kasten (born
February 1 ,1952 inLakewood Township, New Jersey ) is the President of theWashington Nationals and a founding partner ofFanDriveMedia . He became president of the Nationals after the ownership group led by Theodore N. Lerner was approved as the teams principal owner byMajor League Baseball .Prior to becoming the Nationals' President, Kasten was a longtime fixture in
Atlanta professional sports primarily due to his association withTed Turner , starting in 1979 when at 27 he became the youngest General Manager in theNational Basketball Association for theAtlanta Hawks , a position he held until 1990. He became the Hawks' President in 1986.Kasten would also become President of the
Atlanta Braves in 1986. In 1999, when theNational Hockey League would award the city of Atlanta with an expansion team, Kasten became the president of the Thrashers as well as Chairman of the newly builtPhilips Arena .Kasten held all these positions until 2003.
Kasten graduated from
Columbia Law School while living in John Jay Hall. He is also a graduate ofRutgers University . He also attendedNer Israel Rabbinical College for high school for a short period.Stan Kasten is married, and has four children.
