- S26 (ZVV)
The S26 is a regional
railway line of theZürich S-Bahn on theZVV (Zürcher Verkehrsverbund/Zürich transportation network) and is one of the network's less-heavily traveled lines. Most of the route is single-tracked.It runs from the south end of the
Zürichsee (Lake Zürich) inRapperswil through theZürcher Oberland on the eastern side of theCanton of Zürich , then through theTösstal (Töss valley) to the other terminus inWinterthur .The usual motive power used on this route is the RBDe 560, with occasional RBe 540 supplements. Einheitswagen ("standard coaches") I or II as well as a BDt or Bt control car make up the rest of the consist, all of which are generally in the NPZ (blue over white) livery.
As of
2006 , the train frequency is 60 minutes. The trip takes from one hour and nine minutes to one hour and seventeen minutes. In addition to the hourly service along the full route, some S26 services only run over part of the route on a different hourly frequency, producing higher overall frequencies on certain parts of the route (Winterthur -Bauma , for example).tations
