Stopnica IPA-pl| [|s|t|o|p|'|n|i|c|a|] is a village in Busko County, Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, in south-central Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Stopnica. It lies approximately convert|17|km|mi|0 east of Busko-Zdrój and convert|55|km|mi|0|abbr=on south-east of the regional capital Kielce.cite web |url=http://www.stat.gov.pl/broker/access/prefile/listPreFiles.jspa |title=Central Statistical Office (GUS) - TERYT (National Register of Territorial Land Apportionment Journal) |date=2008-06-01 |language=Polish] In 2007 the village had an approximate population of 1,500.

In 1362 it was granted the civic rights by king Casimir III the Great. Stopnica lost the rights in 1870. During World War II the village was almost completely destroyed. Before the war Stopnica had a large Jewish community, which perished in the Holocaust.
