As surrounding counties saw an increase in their population densities and the number of their residents employed within Marion County, they met Census criteria to be added to the MSA. Marion County, Indiana, is now joined with nine other counties to form this MSA. It is now the primary MSA of the Indianapolis-Anderson-Columbus, IN Combined Statistical Area which also includes the Anderson, IN, MSA ofMadison County, Indiana , the Columbus, IN, MSA ofBartholomew County, Indiana , and the Micropolitan Statistical Areas of Crawfordsville, IN (Montgomery County, Indiana ), New Castle, IN (Henry County, Indiana ), and North Vernon, IN (Jennings County, Indiana ). The Indianapolis-Anderson-Columbus, IN Combined Statistical Area has a July 1, 2005 Census Bureau estimated population of 1,958,453.County Populations: 1950-2005
