Keith Hackney (born 1960 in Roselle, Illinois) is an American martial artist and retired mixed martial arts fighter. He competed in three Ultimate Fighting Championship tournaments.

Biography

Hackney started training martial arts at the age 14 by learning wrestling and boxing. Two years later, age 16, he began learning the art of Tae Kwon Do and eventually received a second degree black belt. In 1992, he furthered his martial arts training by beginning to train White Tiger Kenpo Karate.

MMA career

Two years later, he entered the UFC and gained his new nickname, "The Giant Killer", after defeating 616 pound sumo wrestler Emmanuel Yarborough. Hackney fractured his hand during the bout and was forced to withdraw from the tournament.

Hackney's next fight would be at UFC 4 against Joe Son. This fight was remarkable for the repeated, intentional groin strikes that Hackey landed on Joe Son. Hackney would win the fight but lose in the next round to eventual tournament winner, Royce Gracie.

Keith Hackney has not competed in professional MMA since 1995.
