- Bisbenzimide
Bisbenzimide Formula C25H24N6O Molecular mass 533.88 amu Bisbenzimide is an
organic compound used as a fluorescent stain for DNA in molecular biology applications. It is anintercalating agent between Adenine-Thymine base pairs.application
Bisbenzimide tends to insert into A-T rich regions of DNA. Binding with bisbenzimide can decrease the density of DNA. So, if we mix DNA samples with bisbenzimide, then doing a CsCl gradient centrofuation, we can separate DNA according to their AT percentage.
