- HFSS
HFSS is a commercial
finite element method solver for electromagnetic structures from Ansoft Corporation. The acronym originally stood for high frequency structural simulator. It is one of the most popular and powerful applications used for antenna design, and the design of complex RFelectronic circuit elements including filters, transmission lines, and packaging. It was originally developed by Professor Zoltan Cendes, his brother Nicholas Csendes, and his students at Carnegie Mellon University, under a marketing relationship withHewlett-Packard . After various business relationships, H-P (by this time Agilent EEsof EDA division) and Cendes & Csendes (by this time incorporated as Ansoft) went their separate ways [ [http://www.answers.com/topic/ansoft-corporation?cat=biz-fin ...In July 2001 Ansoft announced that it would purchase Agilent's HFSS product line...] ] : Agilent with the critically acclaimed [ [http://www.chipdesignmag.com/display.php?articleId=1885 Max's Chips and Dips: Cool News from Agilent EEsof] ] EMDS and Ansoft with their HFSS products, respectively.References
