"Bastanak" ( _ar. بستناك) is Elissa's fifth studio album. Elissa was awarded a World Music Award as the best world artist for her track "Bastanak." It was Elissa's second studio-album under Rotana after "Ahla Donya" and her fifth official studio album. Unlike her previous albums which were produced by Jean-Marie Riachi, numerous producers collaborated in the project. The album's lead single was the title track "Bastanak" with its music video shot in Prague. It was released exclusively on Rotana music channels. To promote the album in May 2006, Pepsi launched an international commercial in which Elissa and American singer Christina Aguilera sing together. Elissa sang "Bastanak" while Aguilera sang a song from her album "Back to Basics". The lead single "Bastanak" was remade by the Turkish pop singer Mustafa Sandal as the song "Farketmez" on his 2007 album Devamı Var. Elissa's song "Fatet Sineen" was also remade by Sandal as the song "Herkes Mecbur."

On November 15, 2006 Elissa received for the second year in a row the World Music Award as best selling artist of the Middle east for the sales of this CD.

Cover

In the cover of Bastannak, Elissa wears a pink dress (the same dress she wears in the Bastannak Video). Elissa stands barefooted on the shore of a lake catching her dress with both hands and looking up to the sky as if she were waiting. (Bastannak = Waiting For You, thus the theme of waiting was in the cover). The pictures of the album were taken in Al-Bekaa / Lebanon, in a village called "Al-Aroun which is famous in Lebanon for having an artificial lake.Elissa also takes pictures on a mountain between rocks, while the lake is behind her. Inside the cover, plenty of pictures are included beside the lyrics of all the songs and their translation to the English Language. At the last two pages, the credits are included in addtion to a word that Elissa writes in her own hand writing and directs it to her fans. And another thank-you letter is written at the very last page with Elissa thanking God, Rotana, her parents and friends. The Bastannak cover was designed by Matthias Clammer. Elissa collaborated later with Clammer in the Ayami Beek cover which wasn't as attractive as the Bastannak cover.The official cover of Bastannak is made of hard paper and not of the normal plastic CD packages.
