Syndicalist Workers' Federation

Syndicalist Workers' Federation

The Syndicalist Workers' Federation was a syndicalist group in Britain. It was formed in 1950 by many members of the recently dissolved Anarchist Federation of Britain, and as a result it was always primarily an anarcho-syndicalist organisation.

The group joined the International Working Men's Association and gave particular support to the Spanish resistance. It initially had some successes, but when Tom Brown, a long-term and very active member was forced out of activity, it declined until by 1979 it had only one base, in Manchester. The group then dissolved itself into the Direct Action Movement, which later formed the Solidarity Federation.
