Sailor Steve

Sailor Steve is a character from the Lethargic Lad comic book. He is best described as a thin white male who dresses in Sailor Moon outfits. Among North-American Otaku, or those who hate them, Sailor Steve can also refer to any man who participates in cosplay as a female character.

Sailor Steve first appeared in Lethargic Lad #3. He frequents the trendy coffee shop, and Infantito city. He is an expert on Japan, even more so than some Japanese, especially about toys, movies, animation, and television. He is meant to be a satire on otaku in general. Beyond Lethargic Lad

Few people actually know about Lethargic Lad, but many know all about the term "Sailor Steve" which is slang for any man who participates in cosplay as a female character, especially at Anime conventions, such as Otakon. Sailor Steve may also refer to a specific person who dressed as Sailor Moon at one of these conventions, and gained notoriety on the internet as people distributed his picture to one another.
