Thomas Andrew Lumisden Strange

Sir Thomas Andrew Lumisden Strange (November 30, 1756 – July 16, 1841) was the sixth Chief Justice of Nova Scotia from 1789–1797 and later Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Madras from 1800–1817.

He was born in England and studied law at Lincoln's Inn. After only practicing law for four years he was appointed as chief justice of Nova Scotia in 1789 and sent to Halifax to quell a a growing upheaval due to the "judge's affair".

After a number of years he became unhappy with his position and had attempted to find a new position in Upper Canada. Unsuccessful, he moved back to England in July 1796. He was knighted on 14 March 1798.
