According to the U.S. Federal law, if a death row inmate gets the electric chair and survives three jolts of 15,000 volts each for 45 seconds, he gets to go free (See factual errors). Max Seed (Sanderson) is the latest death row inmate to get the chair, supervised by Warden Wright (Moeller). After two failed attempts at electrocution, Wright forces a doctor to pronounce the still breathing Seed dead. Bound and buried alive, Seed bites and claws his way to the surface, now bent on vengeance.
Production
The film was shown on the
Weekend of Fear festival in Erlangen, Germany onApril 27 2007 . Director Uwe Boll was there to present the film and also to answer questions. Before the film started Boll emphasized the brutality of the film. Furthermore he pointed out that PETA made archival recordings of animal cruelty available for the use in "Seed"'s introduction, though this footage was obscured on-screen. Boll stated that this alteration had occurred in the processing laboratory without his knowledge. It remains to be seen whether the footage will be restored in the final release.Factual errors
A press announcement for this movie claimed the story is based on true events. However, the notion that a convict who survives three jolts from the electric chair receives an automatic pardon is a misconception.
