Drew Levinson

Drew Levinson

Drew Levinson was born in Lumberton, North Carolina and is a national correspondent for CBS Newspath, the CBS affiliate news service and can be seen on many CBS affiliate stations.

He has been based in New York since October 2002. Prior to that, Levinson was a CBS Newspath correspondent based in Chicago (2001-02) and Detroit (1997-2001).

Levinson has covered the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and has also reported from Kuwait and Pakistan. He has been in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza several times to cover the uprising and the Israeli elections.

Levinson has covered many major stories including Hurricane Katrina, the pope's illness in Rome, reported from Paris on the Air France Concorde crash and from London on Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee as well as the 30th anniversary of the flight of the Concorde.

He was in Indiana for the execution of Oklahoma bomber Timothy McVeigh, he covered the 2000 and 2004 Presidential elections and reported from Ground Zero after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

Levinson covered the Columbine High School shootings in Denver as well as the sniper shootings in the Washington, D.C. area. He has covered more than a dozen hurricanes and has reported from areas devastated by tornadoes, earthquakes and wildfires.

Before joining CBS Newspath, Levinson was a reporter for WCAU-TV Philadelphia. He was also a reporter and anchor for NBC News Channel in Charlotte, N.C. Levinson held various positions, including weekend anchor, morning anchor and general assignment reporter, at WBTV-TV Charlotte, NC. He served as morning anchor and reporter for WDBJ-TV Roanoke, Va., and was a reporter for WPTV-TV West Palm Beach.

Levinson was born in Lumberton, North Carolina and was raised in Fairmont, N.C. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of arts degree in peace, war and defense. He lives in New York City.
