Shigemi "Eddie" Hagihara

Edward Shigemi Hagihara (born March 29 1935) is an aikido instructor in New York. He is a 7th dan shihan from the Aikikai.

He started his training in New York as the second student under Yasuo Ohara in the mid to late 1950s. In the early 1960s, he and six other aikidoists incorporated as the New York Aikikai. Shortly thereafter he returned to Japan to train at the Aikikai Hombu Dojo. In 1964, at the same time Yoshimitsu Yamada reformed the New York Aikikai, Hagihara opened the first aikido dojo in Long Island.
