Black Juju

Black Juju

"Black Juju" was a psychedelic rock song performed by the Alice Cooper Band. It was released on their 1971 album "Love it to Death". It was written by Dennis Dunaway.

A 9-minute-plus track, it clearly showed the group's Pink Floyd influences, sounding eerily similar to Pink Floyd's 1968 classic "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun", with its opening and middle organ solos by Michael Bruce and the opening rhythmic drumming by Neal Smith.

The track was used as Cooper's introduction tape on his 2003-2004 Eyes of Alice Cooper tour.

The song was covered by Entombed, and can be found on the "Sons of Satan Praise the Lord" double CD.

The song was covered by Lydia Lunch and can be found on her 1991 album "Shotgun Wedding".

The song was covered by Pleasure Forever and can be found on their 2007 album "Bodies Need Rest" (quoting the song)

The title Black Juju refers to a niche of dark magic, owing it's origins to both Africa and Japan.
