John Dupuis

John Dupuis (born November 21, 1980) is currently the Director of Bands at Howard W. Blake High School for the Performing Arts. Mr. Dupuis is a member of Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Music Educator's Association, and MENC.

John lives in the greater Tampa Bay area with his dog, Skippy, and his pet tarantula, Geoffrey. He enjoys watching episodes of Seinfeld, dining at Carrabba's, and conducting to pop music on the radio as he drives. In his home, he proudly displays a letter from President George H.W. Bush, as well as miniature replicas of the instruments he plays, namely the flute, the french horn, and the zither.

John had the distinction of spending his early college years sharing a dormitory with the infamous Jason Burkett, a noted escape artist and magician. Because the two were too cheap to buy a television, they passed a lot of time watching episodes of South Park on the computer. Their obsession with South park came to a climax in September 1999 when the two took a trip to Tallahassee and decided that the best way to pass time would be to put the audio tracks of South park episodes on CD and just listen to these episodes on the four hour trip from Tampa to Tallahassee.

John Dupuis is currently the Director of Bands at Howard W. Blake High School for the Performing Arts, where his ensembles have consistently received superior ratings. Mr. Dupuis received his Bachelors degree in Music Education and Music Composition and his Master of Music degree in Conducting and Music Composition from the University of South Florida. His teachers included Dr. William Wiedrich, Dr. Robert Summer, Dr. Kim McCormick, Dr. Michael Robinson, Dr. Michael Sidney Timpson and Prof. James Lewis.

Dupuis' compositions have been commissioned and performed by various ensembles throughout the United States, including:
*The Seattle Symphony Orchestra
*The Florida Orchestra
*The Naples Philharmonic Orchestra
*The Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra
*The Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies

Dupuis's works are published through Daehn Music Publications and Wehr's Music House Publishers.
