John McEnery (born
1 November 1943 inBirmingham, England ) is a Britishactor andwriter .At age 20 he found his first stage work, spending three seasons with the
Everyman Theatre inLiverpool . He joined theBritish National Theatre Company in 1966. He trained at theBristol Old Vic Theatre School .He appeared, most notably, co-starring to
Jean-Pierre Cassel andClaude Jade inGérard Brach 's "The Boat on the grass" and as Mercutio inFranco Zeffirelli 's "Romeo and Juliet". He was nominated for aBAFTA for the latter performance.He has two daughters, Phoebe and Chloe, by his former wife, actress
Stephanie Beacham . One brother is actorPeter McEnery , and another is photographerDavid McEnery .He wrote a play, "Merry Christmas, Mr. Burbage", in 1998 in honor of the 400th anniversary of the creation of the
