Uttar Pradesh ,India under theUttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU). It was founded in 1989 and the first batch graduated in the year 1993. It is fully funded by the UP state government. It is affiliated to theUttar Pradesh Technical University ,Lucknow for the award of degrees.Presently, Prof. V. K. Bhatt is officating the post of Director of BIET.
The Institute
BIET is located in the historical city of
Jhansi in theBundelkhand region of North India. The institute's campus is located around 12 kilometers from the Railway Station, on the Jhansi-Kanpur StateHighway .The institute admits students from all over India through the prestigious Common Entrance Test known as UPTU-SEE (
Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination). Professor V K Bhatt of Mechanical Engineering is officiating the responsibility of Director.Vision

Accreditation
The B.Tech degrees in Civil, Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science and Chemical branches of the institute have been accredited by the [http://www.nba-aicte.ernet.in NBA] (National Board of Accreditation). The CS and ME branches have been re-accredited for a period of three years, starting 2004, whereas the CE branch has been accredited for a period of five years.
Affiliation
The institute is affiliated to the
Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU). Prior to the formation of UPTU, the institute was affiliated to Bundelkhand University, Jhansi for the award of B.Tech. degree.Infrastructure
The institute is fully residential and it has four boys' hostels (named Saket, Panchvati, Vrindavan, Jaibharat), two girls' hostels (named Yashodhara, Vasundhara), and houses for teachers and other staff. It has a
bank (Central Bank of India branch) with an automated teller machine (ATM), apost office , a dispensary, a guest house and a central play ground among other facilities. The Administrative block has the Director's Office and the library. Each department has its own building which houses the lecture halls and respective labs.Placement Record
The institute has a very good placement record under the direction of Training & Placement Officer Prof. G.D.Singh. The batch strength of 2007 batch was about 250 and till the end of the session almost 150 students got placed in various multinational companies.RIL, Pepsi, Wipro, Mahindra, are some of them.

- The hostels are named after the books/ compositions of the famous Hindi poet
Maithili Sharan Gupt . - The monogram of the institute has been designed by a student of the institute: Mohit Verma (Electronics 1992-96). - The annual festival of the institute is called UTSAV (meaning celebration / festival), named way back in 1992-93, when first UTSAV was celebrated. - The first student newsletter was printed in the name of VOX-POPULI in English and 'Bas Yu Hi...' in Hindi.Bencolites
The institute was formerly known as Bundelkhand Engineering College. BENCOL is an acronym for Bundelkhand ENgineering COLlege. Hence the term Bencolites refers to the students (current and graduated) of the institute. Though BENCOL was formally changed to BIET (in around 1994-1995), the term Bencolites is still used widely and happily by all the alumni.
