Gyland

Gyland

Gyland is a former municipality in Vest-Agder county, Norway.

Gyland was established as a municipality January 1 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt), but it was merged with Bakke already the fall 1839.

It was (again) separated from Bakke on 31 December 1893. At that time Gyland had a population of 1.085.

On 1 January 1965 Gyland, as well as Bakke, Hidra and Nes, became incorporated into the neighboring municipality Flekkefjord. Prior to the merger Gyland had a population of 691.
