Preface (collection opening, Volume II)

Preface (collection opening, Volume II)

Preface is the opening to the first volume of Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka by Nikolai Gogol, written in 1832.

Rudy Panko returns for his last book of tales, though, again speaking to the reader as though actually talking to them in person, he is somewhat hesitant to do so. This time he decides to not include any of his stories, but presents those of others whom the reader is not familiar with yet (he does not give their names). Foma, a character from the first volume, is the only one that is familiar.
