Cawsand

Cawsand

Cawsand ( _kw. Porthbugh) is a small village overlooking Plymouth Sound in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. Linked to Kingsand it was once on the border of Devon and Cornwall but the border has since been moved. Once a renowned smuggling centre the houses are now being bought up to use as holiday lets. Its seafront (the Bound) is about three houses long consisting of two houses and a hotel (the Cawsand Bay Hotel and Galleon Restaurant). The village is part of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park, and there are frequent bus and ferry services to the city of Plymouth. It is sometimes known as being in the Forgotten Corner of Cornwall. The area around Cawsand is known as the Rame Peninsula. The village lies within the Parish of Maker-with-Rame, named after the two nearest churches. Cawsand Fort stands above the village, but has now been converted into residential flats.
