Sarku Japan is the largest and most successfulFact|date=June 2008 Japanese fast food chain in the United States, specializing in Japanese cuisine such as sushi or teriyaki dishes and is most known for its teriyaki chicken. The group was founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1987, and currently has almost 200 restaurants, frequently sited in large shopping malls. By 1991, they had opened more than 25 locations in 8 states and by 1999, had opened their 100th location. They now serve more than 20,000,000 people annually with locations in 36 states.
