#"I Shall Be Free""Bob Dylan's Dream" is a song written by Bob Dylan in 1962. It was released on the album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan in 1963. Its nostalgic lyrics betray a sentimentality which would seem to hearken back to Woody Guthrie, a hero of Dylan's.

The song was written about times Bob spent in the Macdougal Street apartment of comedian Hugh Romney (A.K.A. Wavy Gravy) in the summer of 1961 after playing a set at The Gaslight Cafe where he met Romney working as entertainment director.

The melody and a few of the lyrics are based around the traditional ballad, "Lady Franklin's Lament".

The title of this song appeared on the cover of the Rolling Stones Album "Beggar's Banquet".
