- Washington Channel
The Washington Channel parallels the
Potomac River inWashington, D.C. It is about three miles long and joins theAnacostia River nearHains Point at its south end to connect to the Potomac River. The north end receives outflow from the Tidal Basin. The channel is located betweenWashington, D.C. (southwest) on the east side andEast Potomac Park on the west side. The actual channel depth ranges from 20 to 27 feet. Water along east bank can be as shallow as two feet, while immediately offshore of the west bank, the channel drops to a depth of more than 15 feet.The Washington Channel is home to the Washington Marina and the
Maine Avenue Fish Market .James Creek Marina is located at the south end of the Washington Channel, where it merges with the Anacostia River. Several restaurants and inns are located on the east bank of the Washington Channel as well as theWomen's Titanic Memorial .
