Harry Aikines-Aryeetey

Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (born 29 August 1988) is an English sprint athlete. In 2005 he was named as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Young Personality and the IAAF's Rising Star of the Year after becoming the first athlete to win gold medals at both 100 m and 200 m at the World Youth Championships.

Aikines-Aryeetey was born in Carshalton, Surrey to Ghanaian parents. He studied at Greenshaw High School in Sutton, London from 2000-2006. He competes for the Sutton and District club and has a personal best of 10.10 seconds over 100 m set at the Rieti GP on September 07 2008, and 20.91 seconds over 200 m. On June 11 2006 he competed in the 100 m at Gateshead in which Asafa Powell equalled the world record of 9.77 s.

On Wednesday 16th August 2006, he won gold in the 100m at the 2006 World Junior Championships in Athletics, held in Beijing, China, in a time of 10.37, a season's best.

He was advised not to run in 2007 due to minor fractures in the spine that could affect later development, but returned to action in 2008 with a 60m PB of 6.59 in France to signal a return to form.
