Peter Collecott

Peter Salmon Collecott, CMG, is the British Ambassador to Brazil.

Biography

*Born on 8 October 1950.
*Graduated in Mathematics from St John's College, Cambridge, where he was Captain of Soccer.
*PhD in Theoretical Physics from University of Cambridge.
*Married Judith Patricia Pead in 1982.

Career

*Entered Diplomatic Service in 1977.
*Studied Arabic before a posting as First Secretary in Khartoum in 1980.
*First Secretary (Economic/Commercial) Canberra 1982.
*Head, Iran/Iraq Section, FCO 1986.
*Assistant Head, European Community Department (External), FCO 1988.
*Counsellor later Deputy Head of Mission Jakarta 1989.
*Counsellor (EU and Economic) Bonn 1994.

*Chief Clerk, later Director General Corporate Affairs, 2001.
