Jane Poynter is an
author ,businesswoman andenvironmentalist . Poynter was one of the original crewmembers ofBiosphere 2 . Along with seven other individuals, Poynter was confined to the sealed environment for two years. Her preparation for life inside Biosphere 2 involved training to survive in theAustralian Outback and onboard a concrete research boat in theIndian Ocean andRed Sea . She was a member of Biosphere 2 from inception and eventually managed the farm where the crew grew its food.Poynter is President of
Paragon Space Development Corporation , an aerospace firm that she co-founded with several engineers and fellow biospherian,Taber MacCallum , while inside Biosphere 2. Since leaving the project, she has had experiments flown on theInternational Space Station , the RussianMir Space Station , theU.S. Space Shuttle and experimental modules being flown byBigelow Aerospace [ [http://www.paragonsdc.com/customers.php Paragon Space Development Corporation ] ] . Currently, she and Paragon are developing life support systems for astronauts and Navy deep-sea divers. Poynter also started Yogi and Co., a multi-media production company. She has written numerous published articles as well as a book, "The Human Experiment: Two Years and Twenty Minutes Inside Biosphere 2".Poynter discusses environmental issues through her writings and online at the
