Home Run Inn

Home Run Inn is a pizzeria chain based in the Chicago, Illinois, metropolitan area of the United States. It has seven locations, including Chicago, Addison, Illinois, and Darien, Illinois, and sells frozen pizzas in twenty states.

History

In 1923, Mary and Vincent Grittani owned a small bar on the South Side of Chicago. When a home run from a nearby baseball game was hit through the tavern's window, the couple decided to rename the tavern Home Run Inn. In the 1940s, the famous pizza recipe was developed and perfected. From there, the franchise expanded into frozen pizza, and several new locations were opened. Today, Home Run Inn operates not only the seven locations, but also a USDA manufacturing facility which opened in 1987 in Woodridge, Illinois to keep up with demand for its pizza. Pizza

Home Run Inn, though based out of Chicago, is not known for deep-dish, Chicago-style pizza. Home Run Inn's pizza is hand-tossed, with a relatively thin crust.
