(MSUM was formerly "Moorhead State College")KMSC is a student run
college radio station located on the campus ofMinnesota State University Moorhead . The station, branded as Dragon Radio, airs on AM 1500.KMSC has been in existence in one form or another since the 1950s. The original studios were located in the basement of Ballard Hall, but moved to the Comstock Memorial Union in the late-60's or early 70's. Always a low-power station, KMSC has operated a 30Watt AM station on the roof of Holmquist, which was installed in 1999-2000. Also in 2000, KMSC began broadcasting it's signal 24 hours a day online, making it one of the first college radio stations in the state to have a full-time webcasting signal. Also during the 1999-2000 school year, it expanded it's live broadcast hours from 8am-7pm to 8am-12am. It also started live broadcasting on the weekends, something that had not been done since the 1980s.
KMSC has had a few prestigious members through the years, including many local FM and AM DJ's, former news anchor Doug Hamilton and deceased rare film collector and MSUM professor, [Ted Larson] [http://fargofilmmaking.wikia.com/wiki/Ted_Larson] . Ted Larson was actually one of the founding members of KMSC as a student at MSU in the late 1950s/early 1960s.
