Horbehutet

Horbehutet

In Egyptian mythology, Horbehutet is the golden disc of the sun god, Ra, that travels over Egypt each day. This symbol was often found in entryways and temples as a symbol of protection from bad spirits.

The horbehutet is also a representation of the uraeus. Sometimes it is used to represent Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt or to distinguish the north from the south.

This symbol was consecrated and honored in the ancient city of Edfu.
