- Buzz Parsons
Les "Buzz" Parsons (born
December 16 ,1950 ) is a former Canadian national soccer team player who scored seven goals in 24 games for Canada. He was born inVancouver ,British Columbia . Parsons was first a defender, later amidfield er player, and still later was converted into astriker during the Pan American Games inColombia in 1971. He played primarily in that position until converted back to a defender by the Vancouver Whitecaps in 1979.Parsons played briefly in
England forHuddersfield Town and Ipswich Town as an amateur. Later he joined the Whitecaps in 1976 and 1977 and was named to the second NASL All Star team as a striker. Parsons played for the Whitecaps inSoccer Bowl 1979 as a full back. Later he became manager of theVancouver 86ers in the Canadian Soccer League. In his career Parsons played in 106 NASL games in seven seasons and scored 17 goals for the Whitecaps.In 1985, he was on the roster of the
Victoria Riptides of theWestern Soccer Alliance .In 2003 he was inducted into the
Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame .External links
