Scotland Forward

Scotland Forward

Scotland Forward was a coalition of organisations and individuals who campaigned for a Scottish Parliament in the early to mid 1990s. In power at the time in Westminster were the Conservatives, who were strongly opposed to Scottish devolution in the main, and who also had declining representation in Scotland. The Labour Party, Liberal Democrats and Scottish National Party all lent their support to the campaign as well as many others.

They became redundant when the Labour Party won the General Election of 1997, with referendums for Scotland and Wales as an integral part of their platform. Both referendums won "Yes" votes, and a Scottish parliament was duly established.
