The Badische Staatskapelle is a symphony orchestra based in
Karlsruhe ,Germany . The orchestra is affiliated with the Badischen Staatstheater (Baden State Theatre). The historical roots of the orchestra date back to 1662. Past leaders of the orchestra included Casimir Schweizelsberger and Johann Philipp Käfer. For 40 years, Johann Melchior Molter was leader of the orchestra.In the 20th century,
Joseph Keilbeth held one of his earliest conducting posts with this orchestra. In the years afterWorld War II , Otto Mazerath, Alexander Krannhals and Arthur Grüber guided the orchestra.Christof Perick was "Generalmusikdirektor" (GMD) from 1977-1986. His successors have included Günther Neuhold (1989-1995) andKazushi Ono (1996-2002). Since2003 , Anthony Bramall has been the orchestra's GMD."Generalmusikdirektoren" (General Music Directors, GMD)
