Emerald Knights Drum and Bugle Corps

Emerald Knights Drum and Bugle Corps

The Emerald Knights drum and bugle corps was founded in 1965, disbanded in 2002. In the early to mid 90s it was called Nite Express.

History

The history of drum and bugle corps in Cedar Rapids, Iowa dates back to the 1920's, beginning with the Cedar Rapids Cadets.

1994 was the most successful year for the Emerald Knights (then called Nite Express) from a score standpoint. That year they earned their first ever DCI membership by placing in the top 21 corps, in 21st place. The corps lost this membership in 1995 and narrowly failed to regain it in 1996, when the corps placed 22nd overall. 1996 was the last year of the corps' operation as Nite Express; for reasons not publicly disclosed the corps went under financially.

In the early 00s the corps attempted to reform as the Emerald Knights but this attempt seems to have been short-lived.
