A blue county is a county whose residents predominantly vote for the Democratic Party in local, state,
United States House of Representatives , U.S. Senate, andU.S. Presidential election s. This term may also be used to describe the political representation of a county bycounty commission ers, state representatives, and state senators.Traditionally, the practice of designating a county as "red" or "blue" is based on the winner-take-all system.
