Surrey Harmony Chorus

Surrey Harmony Chorus

Surrey Harmony is an award-winning women's barbershop chorus based in Coulsdon, United Kingdom. The members are the reigning UK Champions of Sweet Adelines, an international organisation which promotes four–part a cappella harmony. It has over 30,000 members in 11 countries worldwide.

Surrey Harmony was formed in 1990 by Jenny Lawson who is still the director today. Under her, the chorus has grown in numbers – there are nearly 80 members – and in reputation. Surrey Harmony has won the gold medal at the UK Championships for Sweet Adelines on five occasions and has twice reached the semi-finals of the Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year competition. In addition the Chorus has helped raise large amounts of money for charity through its performances which can be adapted to the small or large occasion.

Surrey Harmony has a wide repertoire ranging from traditional barbershop medleys to popular songs from West End shows, in fact something for everyone. What sets Barbershop apart from traditional choral singing is the vibrant and fast moving choreography which accompanies many of the upbeat numbers.
