He was a member of the PSV team that won the European Cup in 1988 and a member of the Dutch team that won the European title at the1988 European Football Championship inWest Germany .Nickname d "Vaantje" and "Geraldinho", he played forAjax Amsterdam (1980-86),PSV Eindhoven (1986-93),Jubilo Iwata (1993-96),FC Utrecht (1997),AS Cannes (1997-98), and1860 München (1998-2000). After his professional career he was caretaker-manager with 1860 München in2004 for a couple of months, and started as a head coach forHelmond Sport in Holland's second division (Eerste Divisie ) in the summer of2006 .
