Pinky Tuscadero

Pinky Tuscadero

Pinky Tuscadero was a character on the American television sitcom Happy Days played by Roz Kelly. Tuscadero was a former love interest of Fonzie. She was a feisty, spirited and proud character, who could be described as a female version of Fonzie in terms of personality. She was an expert motorcycle driver. Her tough sister, Leather Tuscadero, was played by Suzi Quatro. She appeared in the Fourth Season Episodes "Fonzie Loves Pinky Parts 1-3".

StyleWhen Pinky is first introduced in "Fonzie Loves Pinky Part 1", she's seen doing what becomes her trademark "hand thing" (she hits her hand against her right fist twice and then snaps). She wears very short white shorts, white boots, and has a pink shirt that's tied to show her stomach. Her other outfits seen are a silver jumpsuit trimmed in pink, and a pink hospital outfit, with a matching pink bandage. She obviously loves the color pink since she's called Pinky, but the nickname may also have to do with her red hair, though it's never said. She also has sidekicks known as "The Pinkettes".

Relationship with FonzieIt's obvious that Fonzie cares a lot about Pinky from the moment that they reunite in "Fonzie Loves Pinky Part 1". Throughout the entire series, Pinky is the only woman who ever makes Fonzie blush. Soon after they're reunited, they spend a lot of time together dancing and riding motorcycles. Soon Fonzie finds out that his partner for the upcoming demolition derby, Nookie Newman, can no longer participate in it. Pinky suggests that she could be Fonzie's new partner, but he says no since a woman has never been a driver in a derby before, and he can't change the rules. This angers Pinky, and she storms out. Later, at the Cunninghams, Pinky tries to convince him to change his mind, but he refuses. Later, Pinky makes him jealous by flirting with "Count" Malachi and saying she'll be his partner. Finally, Fonzie relents saying that "Pinky rides with me." At the derby, Pinky--who refused to wear a helmet--gets on top of her car on a part, only to be hit by the Malachi brothers, causing her to fall and get a concussion. Fonzie rushes over to Pinky and holds her in his arms. She kisses him lightly and gives him her scarf before being taken to the hospital. Fonzie wins the derby, then rushes off to see Pinky in the hospital, where she convinces him that she's fine. Soon, Fonzie proposes to Pinky and she accepts. However, Fonzie soon feels that he can't become "Mr. Tuscadero" and he tells Pinky that she should leave Milwaukee and enjoy the fame that she's earned. Even though it's obvious that they still love each other, Pinky agrees with Fonzie and the two decide to part ways. Right before Pinky leaves, a photographer (reporter) refers to Fonzie as 'Mr. Tuscadero", to which Pinky responds, "Hey! That's The Fonz!", which sums up that they really did both love and respect each other.

Pinky was supposed to become a regular cast member and regular love interest for Fonzie during the Fourth Season but problems between actress Roz Kelly and the producers resulted in her not being cast.

Other uses of the name

Pinky Tuscadero was also the name of a genre-twisting, female-fronted punk band from Sydney, Australia that existed between 2003 and 2006. They released one EP, 2006's "Look Your Best", distributed through Reverberation Records.
