Steve Howey (born July 12, 1977 in San Antonio, Texas) is an American film and television actor best known for his role as Van Montgomery in the television series "Reba". He has guest-starred on "ER", "The Drew Carey Show", "Any Day Now" and "Twins". His films include "Supercross", "", and "Bride Wars".

His father is acting coach Bill Howey; he currently lives in Los Angeles, California.

Biography

Born Steve Michael Robert Howey in San Antonio, Texas, Howey spent several years of his early childhood living on boats with his parents. They eventually settled in a Los Angeles suburb where he attended junior high and most of high school. After moving to Denver to complete his senior year, he earned a basketball scholarship to a junior college in Colorado. He began to lose interest in basketball in his second year and turned, instead, to drama, joining his father's (acting coach Bill Howey) acting class. In 2001 Howey got the role of Van Montgomery in the WB turned CW sitcom "Reba", which he starred in until 2007. "Reba" marked his first series starring role.

Howey has previously guest-starred on shows including "ER" (1994) and "The Drew Carey Show" (1995). He also starred in and produced the independent film "Class" (1998), which was written and directed by his father and was accepted into the Denver International Film Festival. In 2005 he starred in the action film "Supercross" as K.C. Carlyle, a striving MX racer that faces struggles with his brother, friends and family. He is also in Reba McEntire's music video "Every Other Weekend" with "Reba" costar Joanna Garcia.

He is currently filming "Bride Wars", an upcoming film starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. Howey is also set to star as the titular character in the upcoming film, "Stan Helsing".

Personal life

Howey is engaged to actress Sarah Shahi who starred as Carmen de la Pica Morales in the Showtime show "The L Word". She currently plays Dani on the new series Life on NBC. Shahi has worked with acting coach Bill Howey, Steve's father.
