It is run by the Vocational Education Committee. The 320 pupils are taught through the medium of the Irish language. The school's principal, since its foundation, has been Gearóid Ó Ciaráin, and the current vice-principal is Nóirín Ní Chonghaile. Ráithín is always amongst the top three university feeder schools in County Wicklow.[citation needed]

The school is awaiting planning permission for a new school building, as the current location is too cramped for the ever increasing student base.
