Operation Bumblebee (US Navy)

Operation Bumblebee was a top-secret, experimental project to develop and test ramjet missiles conducted by the US Navy. Operation Bumblebee started at the end of World War II, and led directly to the deployment of the operational Talos, Terrier, and Tartar missiles.

Test sites

Topsail Island, North Carolina is a barrier island located along the coast of North Carolina. This was the permanent location of the testing and launch facilities for Bumblebee. Initial tests were conducted at temporary sites in Island Beach, New Jersey and Fort Miles, Delaware.
