Ulu Yam

Ulu Yam is a main town in Selangor, Malaysia. It is famous for its "lor mee" (or noodles in thick soya gravy), and is especially popular among residents of nearby Kuala Lumpur. It will only take you 30 minutes to go there from Kuala Lumpur. It is a small but nice town with the fresh air surrounded. Ulu Yam is also well known by its natural surroundings and places.

Ulu Yam has some nice natural waterfalls (around 2-4). One of it has five stages, you can try to explore it and have fun. There are also three natural hot water pools (hot springs). They believe the natural hot water is good for your health.

Unfortunately Ulu Yam is infamous for its Rehabilitation Centre. To this camp are sent so-called apostates who convert to other faiths from Islam, here they have to undergo a 'programme'. This camp is run by Islamic authorities. The Shariah Courts can order the apostates to be detained for 100 days and they may be further detained if they donot 'repent'/'recant'.
