student newspaper ofSanta Clara University . It publishes about 5,000 free copies every Thursday during the academic year. The newspaper was founded under the same name on Feb. 22, 1922.The newspaper has received several awards over the last few years, including the
Associated Collegiate Press 's Pacemaker prize in 2004. It was a finalist for the award in 2005 and 2006, and its Web site won the online version of the prize in 2006. In 2007, the newspaper won three awards in the Associated Collegiate Press Story of the Year contest: Jeremy Herb won first place for feature story, Megan O'Connor won first place for diversity story, and the editorial board won third place for editorial.Notable past staffers of "The Santa Clara" include
