Janice Gould

Janice Gould

Janice Gould is a Koyangk'auwi Maidu writer and scholar. She is the author of "Beneath My Heart" (Firebrand Books), "Earthquake Weather" (University of Arizona Press) and co-editor with Dean Rader of "Speak to Me Words: Essays on Contemporary American Indian Poetry" (University of Arizona Press).

She grew up in Berkeley and graduated magna cum laude from University of California, Berkeley. There she earned a linguistics (B.A) and English (M.A.) degree. Her Ph.D. was completed at the University of New Mexico.
