The French name for this GR route is the "Chemin de St-Jacques" and the Spanish name is the "Camino de Santiago": this is because the GR 65 is an important variant route of the oldChristian pilgrimage toSantiago de Compostela ; as such it is aWay of St. James .The GR 65 has been included as part of European walking route E3.
