- Hareskovby
Hareskovby, or Hareskov By, is a small suburb to
Copenhagen , partly withinFuresø municipality , partlyHerlev municipality on the island ofZealand ,Denmark . The part of Hareskovby lying within the Furesø municipality has its own school and library. The contiguous built-up area extends intoGladsaxe andBallerup municipalities, though these areas are not called Hareskov or Hareskovby. All these built-up areas are statistically part of the contiguous "City of Copenhagen" (Metropolitan Copenhagen ), although they are managed and financed exclusively by the municipalities within which they are located. Many of the roads in Hareskovby are named after plants and flowers such as 'rose', 'clover' (Rosevej; Kløvervej in Danish with the Danish suffix -"vej" for 'road').
Hareskovby is situated south and west of the Hareskov forests, the suffix "skov" meaning 'forest' or 'woods' in Danish . The name of Hareskov itself is related to the prefix 'Harre' meaning stone alter. The forests are used as a centre of recreation north of
Copenhagen . Mountainbiking, horseriding, walks and role-playing ('Dungeons and Dragons' or 'Viking' role playing) for adults and children are popular. The forest is renowned for its natural beauty and ease of access.
