Ware Racing attempted their first Cup Start at
Watkin's Glenn in 2004 withStanton Barrett driving the #52 car but failed to qualify. They also entered atBristol but failed to qualify there too.They entered the 2005 Daytona 500 with
Larry Gunselman but failed to make the show. They didn't make another attempt untilSonoma with Mexican driver,Jose Luis Ramirez but again failed to qualify. Derrike Cope ran atNew Hampshire and at Pocono but also failed to qualify for both events. They did not make another attempt that season.Gunselman again attempted and failed to make the 2006 Daytona 500.
Steve Portenga attempted Phoenix but didn't make it in. [Donnie Neuenberger attempted atDover but also wasn't quick enougth. They then merged with Stanton Barrett's team before Pocono in July with Barrett driving but that still wasn't enough to make the show. The team switched numbers to the #30 before their next attempt atBristol again not making the show. Barrett attemptedNew Hampshire and Neuenberger atDover but neither qualified. Barrett made one last attempt atMartinsville with the same result.Their final attempt was the 2007 Daytona 500 but Barrett failed to make the show. The team shut down later that year.
Busch Series
Ware Racing also ran a full time Busch team running the #51 Dodge in 2004. They also ran a second part time #57 car. Both cars made their debut at Daytona with
Kevin Conway in the #51 andStan Boyd in the #57 but both failed to qualify.Shane Sieg attemptedRockingham in the #51 also failing to qualify. Sieg would then make Las Vegas starting 36th but crashed withDonnie Neuenberger early in the race and ended up 42nd. They entered 2 cars again atDarlington with Boyd in the #57, both cars made the race, Boyd was 37th and Sieg 43rd but both retired with Boyd 41st with engine failure and Sieg was 37th after crashing with Neuenberger again. Sieg was then released and Boyd moved to the #51.Morgan Shepherd ran in the #57 at Bristol, both cars made the race again, they started 33rd and 37th. Shepherd parked after 51 laps with handling issues while Boyd scored the team's first ever finish in 25th, 4 laps down. Boyd then failed to qualify forTexas andNashville butKim Crosby scored the team's best ever finish atTalladega with a 20th place finish.Boyd was back at
California along withBruce Bechtel in the #57. Bechtel failed to qualify but Boyd made it in. However the race ended in disaster when Boyd spun coming into the pits knocking a couple of tyres into his own pit crew causing minor injuries to some of the crew.Boyd qualified 35th at
Gateway but suffered an engine failure after 91 laps finishing 32nd. Morgan Shepherd ran at Richmond qualifying 43rd and again had an engine failure on lap 199 finishing 34th.Travis Powell ran atNazareth qualifying 39th but parked the car on lap 9 finishing 41st.Boyd returned at
Charlotte and made the field but the team sold their spot in the field toJ.J. Yeley andJoe Gibbs Racing who failed to qualify. Yeley finished 15th in the #51 with Rick Ware as the owner which turned out to be the team's best ever finish.Boyd again made
Dover but crashed out on lap 34 ending up 38th.David Eshleman ran atNashville qualifying 41st but was embarrassingly black flagged for being too slow and came 40th. Boyd then did a start and park on lap 2 atKentucky .Bobby Dotter ran atMilwaulkee qualifying a soild 27th and finished 26th 6 laps down. Kim Crosby returned forDaytona qualifying 43rd but finishing 31st 6 laps down.Blake Mallory ran at Chicagoland but failed to qualify ending the team's streak of making races. Boyd returned atNew Hampshire to start and park after 17 laps and finishing 39th. Boyd then ran the team's #57 car while Crosby ran the #51. Both made the field but both parked on lap 11.Dana White failed to qualify the #51 atIRP but Boyd made the field in the #57 finishing a solid 27th 4 laps down. Crosby ran the #51 again atMilwaulkee making the race thanks to qualifying being rained out. Crosby was parked for being too slow after 46 laps. Morgan Shepherd then failed to qualify atBristol .Stanton Barrett , their Cup driver ran atCalifornia parking after 31 laps while Shepherd in the #57 was the only entry to fail to qualify.Funding was running out so the team skipped Richmond, returning at
Kansas withKenny Hendrick . Hendrick qualified and finished 42nd after parking on lap 7. Hendrick then failed to qualify atDover ,Charlotte ,Memphis and Phoenix whileBlake Mallory failed to qualify atAtlanta .Dana White got in the field atDarlington thanks to qualifying being rained out. White parked after 52 laps. However this would be their final race in the series and shut down after that event to focus on the Cup effort, missing outHomestead-Miami .
