Machynys, or Machynys Peninsula is a coastal area in south
Llanelli that has been transformed beyond recognition since 1960. Millennium Coastal Park , which includesNational Cycle Network route 4, runs along the coast of Machynys. There are scenic views of theGower peninsula and the Bury Estuary from along the coast.Machynys was shown as an island in two maps, more notably in the more recent map of the Stepney Estate in 1761. This was only the case when the tide was out. The land was once occupied by a farm, terraced housing and a tinplate works.
